I don’t have any significant updates for now but felt the urge to reach out to my readers today. When I began writing, long before I had a contract – or frankly knew much about what I was doing, I wrote primarly for myself, to unleash the stories building within me.
Then I became a published author and started interacting with readers. It was such an odd experience at first! Don’t get me wrong, it was wonderful! But I had become so accustom to writing “internally” and for Paul and a few other loyal readers that it took some adjusting to listen to others reacting to my characters and stories. I am a shy person by nature, and my writing is so intimate and personal, that it was almost embarrassing to me, even when people loved what I had done.
Which brings me to writing a blog entry today. As I begin writing what hopefully will become my sixth novel – about witches and pirates – I find myself thinking a little differently than I did long ago when I started this whole thing. I still write what inspires me, what I feel inside and want to express. Otherwise it would not be authentic and real for anyone. But as I edit and think about the story and new characters, I think about you, too – my readers. I start to get excited about sharing this new adventure with you. It has tremendously enriched my experience.
So thank you, readers. For embracing my novels and sharing the adventure with me.
